A PROFILE
Bharathiar PalkalaiKoodam is a multi-art institution consists of three faculties viz. Music /Dance / Fine Arts established in the year 1987 to
commemorate the Birth Centenary of the National Poet Subramania Bharathi. It is being Governed by the members of the Governing Body of the Society.
The object of the BharathiarPalkalaikoodam is to carry out the propagation of Art & Culture and to establish a memorial in Puducherry to the Poet Subramaniya Bharathi. With this object, Bharathiar Palkalaikoodam was started with three departments viz. Music, Dance and Fine Arts. Training in Vocal, Veena, Violin Mrudhangam, Nadeswaram and Thavil in Music Department; Bharathanatyam and Mohiniyattam in Dance Department; Drawing, Painting,
Textile Design, Applied Art and Design & Sculpture in V isual Arts Department with allied subjects like Photography, Print Making, , Computer Graphics, Stage Make-up and Stage Design.The above cultural subjects are being taught in the degree level by well renowned experts in each subject.

The Bharathiar palkalaikoodam is the only institution in India offering degree courses to the student in Music, Dance and Fine Arts, all in one campus under one roof.
LOCATION OF THE CAMPUS
The Bharathiar Palkalaikoodam is located at Ariyankuppam near the city of Puducherry and is on the Puducherry - Cuddalore (NH45A) Main Road.
The institution is put up at an area of 10.5 acres of land with good surroundings and congenial atmosphere for study of such art and culture subjects.
STATUS
The Bharathiar Palkalaikoodam is a society registered under Societies Registration Act,1860, running the college, affiliated with Pondicherry University
and is funded and sponsored by the Govt. of Puducherry.
AIM AND OBJECT
The object is to promote and train the South Indian Art and Culture among the yonger generation with spiritual and discipline. |
